What we think

This is so true and, also, so important:

You may believe that you are responsible for what you do, but not for what you think. The truth is that you are responsible for what you think, because it is only at this level that you can exercise choice. What you do comes from what you think.

I think it's not such a simple and straightforward truth that we are responsible for what we think - much of our thinking is repetitive,involuntary,conditioned ie. reactive, semi-conscious etc. and our choice is in our response to what happens in our heads - we can either identify with it and act on it, or label it "thought" and let it go and don't act on it it. When that is the case, that is what we DO with/to our thinking and only then we are responsible for it. What we DO=ACT comes from what we DO=CHOICE to our thinking proior to our ACTS. To ACT or not to ACT is our primary choice and thus we are ultimately responsible for it.
