The only choice that really matters

Here it is:

We can let the circumstances of our lives harden us so that we become increasingly resentful and afraid, or we can let them soften us, and make us kinder. We always have the choice.

    I like this comment, but wish to add that it is sometimes necessary (for some of us) to ask for help in letting go of resentments and old wounds...not always such an easy thing to do. Asking for help is NOT a shameful thing, in fact is courageous and should be applauded.

  2. Oh, I completely agree with you, Annie. I would say that the "choice" the Dalai Lama is talking about is not the same as a magic wand that will make the feelings go away. Sometimes the choice is, as you say, to ask for help with the process.
