Inner silence

This advice is actually deeply consoling if we let it be:
When it seems humanly impossible to do more in a difficult situation, surrender yourself to the inner silence and thereafter wait for a sign of obvious guidance or for a renewal of inner strength.
~ Paul Brunton from Meditations for People in Crisis

  1. Ellie, this undid me. For days now, every time I've tried to surrender to the inner silence, I cry.

  2. Hello, Kate. Undoubtedly, you need to make friends with the silence first.

Take a break from this practice for a while and then, when you come back to it, simply ask the silence "Do you have something to teach me today?" or "What can you tell me about yourself that would be good for me to know?"

It is not necessary to overwhelm ourselves when we're in the process of becoming acquainted with inner silence.
